Extensive health examination
A healthy lifestyle is important to a good health. Stress, a poor diet, smoking and lack of exercise may cause health problems in the long run. The purpose of health examinations is to prevent such problems.
Health examinations and health checks are performed at various locations all over Denmark, at doctor’s offices as well as at gyms. There are no general requirements to the extent and quality of these examinations, which accordingly vary a lot from place to place.
At Varde Heart Centre, we offer health examinations to both individuals and companies. We adapt our examinations to individual requirements and needs and it is imperative to us that our examinations are evidence-based.
At the end of each examination, we strive to deliver an easily read written report, the purpose of which is to give the persons examined insight and motivation to lead a healthier life.
An extensive health examination consists of:
- A questionnaire, which is handed out, filled in and reviewed prior to the examination.
- Interview on lifestyle.
- Clinical examination performed by a specialist.
- Blood pressure measurement to reveal high blood pressure.
- ECG at rest to reveal certain heart diseases.
- Test of lung function, spirometry and peak flow meter.
- Body Composition analysis including height, weight, BMI, body fat percentage, visceral fat (i.e. organ fat) percentage, water percentage, muscle mass, estimated bone mass and biological age.
- Aerobic capacity test using pulse test on exercise bike and Borg’s 15-point scale.
- Measurement of cholesterol (HDL, LDL, VLDL), triglycerides, blood sugar, haemoglobin percentage, electrolytes (Na, Ka, Ca) and possibly oxidisation of the blood.
- Urine sample to be examined for blood, sugar, glucose, proteins, nitrite and white blood cells.

- Risk assessment table pointing out and calculating the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases within a 10-year period.
Depending on the result, the extensive health examination can be supplemented with additional tests.
