Aortic Valve Surgery is an operation where the objective is either to repair the Patient’s own Valve or replacing the Valve with an Artificial Valve.

Before Surgery

Before aortic valve operation you will need a dentist to rule out hidden inflammation in your teeth. If you older than 40 Years you must also undergo a coronary angiography.

Facts regarding Aortic Valve Surgery

There are two groups of artificial heart valves, the biological and mechanical. The mechanical valves are artificial and require lifelong treatment with anticoagulants.

The biological Valves does not require long term anticoagulant therapy. In return it has the Disadvantage of decomposing as time goes by and will often require replacement later in life.
